Description
Turmeric, scientifically known as Curcuma longa or Curcuma domestica, is a rhizomatous perennial plant belonging to the Zingiberaceae family. Turmeric rhizomes are boiled, then baked in ovens and then ground. Today, it is widely used in cooking and is a key ingredient in curry mix, as well as in mustard and coloring some cheeses. Originating from South Asia (specifically Indonesia) and its main ingredient curcumin has so many beneficial properties for the human body, it is called a "health bomb" and "king of the medicinal herbs of the East!".
