Description
Red sweet pepper or "paprika" is the result of grinding the Capsicum pepper into a fine powder. Just a single serving of 1 tablespoon provides ample amounts of nutrients and especially carotenoids, which contain plenty of vitamin A.
It originates from central Mexico and was brought to Spain in the 16th century under the name "pimenton".
Although paprika belongs to hot peppers, in 1920 a grower from the city of Szeged, Hungary grafted the plant, managing to produce sweet peppers.
