Description
Black pepper (Piper nigrum) is widely known since ancient times, as it was used in Ancient Egypt and Greece. It is a flowering climbing plant with small stone fruits and a fleshy pericarp with a diameter of 5-8mm.
Black pepper is produced from the still green unripe fruits of the plant, then they are dried and finally ground into different coarsenesses. It is one of the most popular spices with infinite uses in cooking, while its unique aroma as well as its special burning is due to the substance "piperine" it contains.
